Getting started
International standards
The method stays tied to the standard you cite, so the data stays current and you focus on the analysis.
char.io is focused on international standards. You cite the standard for the measurement family you are running. The recipe names that standard and the method version that implements it. The steps of the standard live in the recipe, for whatever device you configured.
Keeping the data current
When the method that implements the standard changes, char.io issues a new method version and reprocesses the stored raw records. The diff shows which results moved. The issued report stays frozen. The new analysis is the current one. You read that analysis.
| What is cited | What it means on the result |
|---|---|
| Standard | The international method the recipe follows. |
| Method version | The implementation in force. A revision is a new version. |
| Issued report | Frozen. A later method produces a new analysis beside it. |
Where your time goes
Your time goes to the analysis: the record, the parameter, and whether the move between versions is the one you expected. The governance engine still requires a named reviewer before a report is issued, and approval before a revised method refills results.
The standard and the method version are evidence on the result, ready for that review.
