Reference
Definitions
The words this guide uses.
- Station
- The instruments char.io connects to, plus fixture, probes, and calibration. Settings are stored with the measurement. A file import is also a station when the record already exists.
- Test flow
- The ordered measurements you design, or the structure of devices, measurements, and conditions. char.io runs it on the station.
- Configuration
- Instrument settings, the condition set, and the method version for a flow. It travels with the run.
- Recipe
- The declared conditioning and extraction steps that produce a parameter. The same recipe on the same raw record produces the same parameter.
- International standard
- The method a recipe cites. A revision becomes a new method version, reprocesses stored records, and leaves the issued report frozen.
- Report
- The document char.io generates from a run. Issuing freezes it. Generating again creates a new version.
- Governance engine
- Owner, source, and classification at ingestion; a named reviewer to issue; approval before a method refills results; a named interlock before a destructive step; and retention, including purge at the end of a contract.
